Alex Goryachev sells the board facing half of the job. His seat is two to four days a month, on a three month minimum then month to month with 30 days' notice, and he says in writing what he does not do: manage engineering, write code, build models, resell software or run procurement. His record is on his page: nearly two decades at Cisco as Managing Director of Innovation Strategy and head of its Global Innovation Centers in 14 countries, a Wall Street Journal bestselling book, and advisory work for the California State University system, Dell's GenAI practice and Amgen, which he labels as advisory rather than embedded.

What customers praise

Unusually honest scoping: he tells companies with a strong internal AI leader to buy advisory instead, and labels which of his engagements were embedded and which were not. A named person with a public record is easier to check than a firm's unnamed bench.

What customers criticise

He does not build anything, so a company whose problem is a pilot stuck on real data needs a builder as well. No fee is printed. His public profile is mostly keynote speaking, and his review counts are audience reviews of talks, not of CAIO work.
