Automating the retrieval half of business analysis, which is exactly why the judgement half is getting expensive.

Verdict

The clearest argument on this page for why the boundary is moving. The part of business analysis that is being automated fastest is the part where the answer already exists somewhere in the organisation and somebody has to go and find it, read it, reconcile it and write it down. That is what Rovo is sold to do, at 25 credits per user per month on a Standard plan and $0.01 a credit beyond it, which is not a price any human analyst can meet. The part that is not being automated is deciding what to build inside an organisation that cannot articulate what it wants, and then building it where the real data and the real permissions live. That is the forward deployed engineer's job, and this entry is the reason its price is going up.

What customers praise

Genuinely accessible in a way nothing else here is: included with Standard, Premium and Enterprise cloud plans rather than sold as a separate purchase, so a team already on Jira and Confluence can test the proposition this week without procurement. Credits pool at the organisation level, and extra usage at $0.01 a credit is the only unit price on this entire list. Admin controls over what the AI can access are stated up front, which is the first question a chief information security officer will ask.

What customers criticise

It answers questions about what your organisation has already written down, which means it inherits every gap in your documentation and confidently reflects it back. The hardest part of business analysis is the knowledge that was never written anywhere, held by three people who disagree, and no retrieval system reaches that. It is also confined to the Atlassian estate: context living in a warehouse, an enterprise resource planning system or somebody's inbox is outside it. And it builds nothing in production, so a company whose plans already exist is no closer to a running system than before.
