Verdict

The only product on this page that publishes a per user price and then says the AI costs nothing on top. Karbon's own AI page puts it plainly: Karbon AI is currently available to all Karbon customers at no additional cost. Eight capabilities are named and shipped, and every one of them is aimed at the thing a practice loses time to. Smart Suggestions assigns work from history. Compose and Refine drafts the email. Client Summary pulls emails, notes, work and billing into one brief. Work Conversations Summary and Email Summary cut a long thread down. Quick Replies, Create Email from Tasks and a time tracking fix that reconstructs the entries somebody forgot to make. Ten people on Team is $7,080 a year, and that is the whole number. The reason it wins rather than ties is that the firms buying this have already paid for the AI whether they switch it on or not.

What customers praise

Karbon publishes both billing cycles and both tiers, which is rarer here than it should be: $59 and $89 on annual, $79 and $99 monthly. Karbon AI is included, stated in one sentence on its own feature page, so a nine person firm is not choosing between AI and a budget. The named capabilities are the unglamorous ones. Reconstructing missed time entries from completed tasks is worth more to a partner in March than any chatbot, because unbilled time is money the firm already spent.

What customers criticise

Kai AI Coworker and the agentic workflows are listed as early access and coming, not shipped, so a firm buying today buys the eight capabilities above and a roadmap. Neither the pricing page nor the AI feature page names QuickBooks Online, Xero or any tax package, which for a product sold on connecting a practice is a gap. Monthly billing needs four users, so a solo bookkeeper pays a year up front or goes elsewhere. And Karbon does not touch the ledger. It manages the work about the books, not the books.

Best for

A firm of roughly four to sixty people where the work that goes missing is email, handoffs and who has capacity this week, and where nobody wants another line on the software bill to get AI.
