Verdict

Tulip is one of four entries here that prints a price, and its AI is aimed at the paper on the shop floor. The vendor names paper based workflows and manual transcription as the problem, and replaces them with apps that run on tablets, workstation screens and machine displays. Tulip AI translates instructions and pulls insight out of the data the apps collect, and AI Composer uses generative AI to build those apps faster. Essentials is $100 a month per interface and Professional $250, both billed annually with a 10 interface minimum. By our arithmetic that is $12,000 a year for the smallest Essentials account and $30,000 for Professional.

What customers praise

It isn't priced per user, so a whole shift can share a workstation screen. The Regulated Industries plan names 21 CFR Part 11, GxP and AS9100, which matters to medical and aerospace suppliers. Included AI Actions rise from 250 a month on Essentials to 1,000 on the top plans. Customer results are vendor claims: Veka down 88 percent on quality escapes, AstraZeneca down 29 percent on changeover, Tiffany and Co down 80 percent on training time.

What customers criticise

It is a platform for building apps, so a shop with nobody to build them buys an empty box. Third party HTTP and SQL connectors start at Professional, which means Essentials can't talk to your ERP. The homepage names Oracle NetSuite, SAP HANA and Snowflake and none of the job shop ERPs. AI use is metered by monthly AI Action caps. An interface counts as active after one day of use in a month.

Best for

A specialty or regulated manufacturer still running paper travelers, work instructions in binders and quality checks written by hand, with someone on staff willing to build the apps that replace them.
