Every other agent on this list is clever inside its own window; Zapier's agents are the ones that can write to the invoicing tool, the scheduler and the customer record because Zapier spent a decade building those connections for its automations and the agents inherit them. That is the difference between an agent that drafts the follow up and an agent that sends it, files it and updates the deal. The free tier is a real free tier at 400 activities a month, which is enough to find out whether the idea works before anyone signs anything.

What customers praise

The widest reach on this list by a distance, and the only entry where you can test a genuine end to end agent at zero cost. Zapier publishes exactly what it charges for, which is rarer than it should be: an activity is any billable action an agent takes, including using a trigger, answering from a knowledge source, running an action, web browsing or scraping, a web search, or a message sent via the Chrome extension. Agents plans stand alone, so you do not need a paid automation subscription first.

What customers criticise

The activity meter is the catch. A single useful agent run can burn several activities, so 1,500 a month is roughly fifty a day, which suits a services firm and does not suit anything with real ticket volume. Agents are also only as reliable as the description you gave them, and when one goes wrong the debugging is genuinely harder than a plain automation because the reasoning is not laid out as steps you can read. If your process is already fully specified and never varies, a plain Zap is cheaper, faster and will not surprise you.
