The field at a glance
What you pay against what you get. Anything up and to the left is punching above its price.
The wildcard · #11
Unrated by designBrixx
This is the clearest example I found of a small forecasting tool that keeps every feature on every plan.
The ten above are scored against the public rubric. The wildcard answers a different question, so it carries no score. It is selected by the wildcard signal model (wildcard-v2.0), read 2026-10-19.
- Under-the-radar coefficientnotable
- The pricing page is short and readable, and the tool does not appear beside the larger planning platforms.
- Impact densitystrong
- A three-way forecast, funding calculators and tax calculations come with a $25 monthly plan.
- Category fit anomalynotable
- It is a planning model you build, not a tool that forecasts from bank data, so it fits founders who want control more than automation.
- Ceiling distancenotable
- The top plan allows 5 plans and a 10-year forecast, and extra plans cost $5 per month.
- Price integrity under growthstrong
- The page lists extra-plan pricing and an annual discount, so growth cost is visible.
Right for
A founder who wants a three-year forecast for a raise and already keeps books in Xero.
Wrong for
A finance team that wants a 13-week forecast refreshed from bank feeds.

Buyer's guide6 questions
What is cash flow forecasting software?
Cash flow forecasting software predicts how much cash your business will have in the coming weeks and months. It takes your bank balance, unpaid invoices, upcoming bills, payroll and planned spending, and shows the expected position over time. The better tools pull this data from your accounting system rather than asking you to retype it. Some products are built around cash alone. Agicap describes a rolling 13-week forecast built from bank data, and Cash Flow Frog describes rolling forecasts up to 36 months. Others forecast the whole business and show cash as one part: Fathom and Jirav describe forecasting the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow together. A third group are accounting systems with a short forecast built in, such as Xero and QuickBooks. For a startup or a small finance team, the question is which of these jobs you need done each week.
How is a cash flow forecast different from a budget or a P&L forecast?
A budget says what you plan to spend. A profit and loss forecast says whether you will make money. A cash flow forecast says whether the bank account will be positive on a given day. Those can disagree. A company can show a profit and still run short of cash if customers pay in 60 days and suppliers want payment in 30. That timing gap is the reason cash forecasting exists. On the pages we opened, Agicap describes refining receivables forecasts with each customer's actual days sales outstanding, and Cash Flow Frog describes customer insights that rank collections and payment punctuality. Ask any vendor how it handles late-paying customers, because that is where most forecasts go wrong.
What time horizon do I need?
It depends on what decision you are making. A 13-week view helps you decide whether payroll and supplier payments are safe. A 12 to 36 month view helps you decide when to hire, raise money or take a loan. The pages show wide differences. Xero lists a 30-day forecast on its Early plan, 60 days on Growing and 180 days on Established. Jirav lists a one-year forecast on Controller Essentials and seven years on CFO Enterprise. Brixx lists 1, 3 or 10 years by plan. Cash Flow Frog lists up to 36 months. If you only need to avoid an overdraft next month, a short forecast is enough. If you are preparing for a funding round, you need the longer view and the scenarios to go with it.
Why do scenarios matter more than the base forecast?
The base forecast is your best guess, and it will be wrong. Scenarios show how wrong it can be before it hurts. A useful scenario answers a plain question, such as what happens to cash if two hires start in March and the biggest customer pays 30 days late. LivePlan lists up to 10 what-if scenarios including best and worst case, Cash Flow Frog describes scenario testing for hiring, spending and growth decisions, and Fathom lists scenario-based planning. The QuickBooks page we opened ties cash flow forecasting to the Advanced plan only and describes no scenario tool for it, though its Plus plan lists a beta scenario chat. When you test a product, build one real downside case and see how many clicks it takes.
Should the forecast connect to my accounting system and bank?
Yes, because a forecast you have to update by hand stops getting updated. Look for named connections to your accounting package and whether actuals refresh on their own. Fathom says cloud accounting systems sync automatically each day. Brixx says Xero actuals refresh daily or on demand. Cash Flow Frog lists QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, Odoo, Sage Intacct and Plaid. LivePlan names QuickBooks Online and Xero. Agicap describes bank sync through Open Banking APIs, mainly with European banks. If your accounting system is not on the list, ask whether a spreadsheet import is the fallback and how often you would have to do it.
Do I need a dedicated tool or is a spreadsheet enough?
A spreadsheet is enough for a business with few customers, simple payments and one person who owns the model. It stops working when several people edit it, when you need scenarios side by side, or when the forecast has to be refreshed from live data every week. The cost of a tool is usually small next to the cost of a missed payroll. LivePlan lists $15 per month on annual billing for Standard, and Brixx lists $20 per month on annual billing for its entry plan, so the price barrier is low. The harder cost is the time to set up assumptions and keep them current. Pick a tool you will actually update, and treat the forecast as a weekly habit, not a quarterly report.
How to choose
- 1First, decide the question you are answering. If it is whether you can make payroll in the next 13 weeks, you need a cash-first tool fed by bank and accounting data. If it is whether you can afford three hires next year, you need a driver-based model that links cash to the P&L and balance sheet.
- 2Second, match the price unit to your size. Fathom prices by connected company, Jirav by plan from a starting price, LivePlan and Brixx by plan per month, Xero and QuickBooks by accounting plan, and Agicap, Planful, Cube and Pigment by quote. These do not compare directly, so ask each vendor for a written price for your company.
- 3Third, check what feeds the forecast. Count how many of your systems have a named connection, and how many would need a spreadsheet upload. A forecast built from a monthly CSV is only as fresh as the last upload.
- 4Fourth, run a real test. Load your last three months, build one downside scenario and compare the forecast with what happened. If the tool cannot show forecast against actuals, you cannot learn how accurate it is.
- 5Finally, ask who else needs access. Your accountant, an investor or a board member may want to see the numbers, and some tools charge for that. Also ask how you export your assumptions if you leave.
Frequently asked6 answers
How much does cash flow forecasting software cost?
On the pages we opened, published prices ranged from $15 per month to $450 per month. LivePlan lists $15 to $40 per month on annual billing. Brixx lists $20 to $60 per month on annual billing. Cash Flow Frog shows $33 per month early bird for its first tier against a $55 list price. Jirav lists starting prices of $50 and $150 per month. Fathom lists $450 per month for 25 companies and $67 for 100 companies on Portfolio. Xero lists $27 to $97 and QuickBooks $38 to $340 per month. Agicap, Planful, Cube and Pigment show no price on the pages we could open.
Is there free cash flow forecasting software?
Not a free forecasting tool on the pages we opened. QuickBooks lists a Free plan, but its page ties cash flow forecasting to Advanced. Cash Flow Frog offers a 14-day trial, Fathom offers 14 days, and Pigment shows a free trial button. LivePlan lists a 35-day money-back guarantee instead of a trial, and Brixx lists a free account only for viewing a plan someone shares with you.
What is the difference between Cash Flow Frog and Fathom?
Cash Flow Frog describes a cash-first product with rolling forecasts up to 36 months, scenarios and consolidation, and shows a price for one revenue tier. Fathom describes three-way forecasting, drivers and portfolio reporting, priced per connected company with 25 companies on the Pro plan. For one startup, Cash Flow Frog's page fits more directly. For an advisor with several clients, Fathom's pricing makes more sense.
Can my accounting software do the job?
For a short horizon, possibly. Xero lists 30, 60 and 180 days of cash flow forecast by plan, and QuickBooks says its Advanced plan includes cash flow forecasting. Neither page describes scenarios in detail. If you need a longer view or side-by-side scenarios, a dedicated tool is likely a better fit.
Which of these need a sales call?
Agicap, Planful, Cube and Pigment showed no price on the pages we opened, and each pointed to a demo, quote or trial. Fathom Enterprise is also quote only. Cash Flow Frog, Jirav, LivePlan, Xero, QuickBooks and Brixx show prices, though Jirav's are starting prices.
How often is this list updated?
We re-score every 90 days, and the next review is 2027-01-17. If a vendor changes a price or retires a plan before then, the list may be out of date, so confirm every figure on the vendor's own page before you buy.
How this was scored
Every entry is scored on a 9.4-point scale across 6 weighted criteria, reviewed quarterly. Top 11 takes no payment from any provider on this list. Scores come from a public weighted rubric, and the methodology weights were locked before entry research began. Re-scored every 90 days.
- Every price and feature in this list comes from a vendor page opened on 2026-10-19. If a page returned an error, redirected, or showed no number, we say so and publish no price. We did not use review sites for facts.
- Several vendors could not be read and are not ranked. The Float cash flow site (withfloat.com) returned a TLS error twice. float.com is a different product, resource scheduling, and was not used. Pulse returned HTTP 404 on its pricing page and its home page was an unrelated medical rates product. Runway's pricing page was a video generation product. Mosaic's pricing URL redirected to an HiBob finance page that did not mention Mosaic, so we did not rank it. Causal at Lucanet and Dryrun returned HTTP 404, Cashflow Manager refused the connection, and the Planful pricing URL returned HTTP 404. Futrli, Fyle, Brex, Ramp and Mercury were not tried.
- Founding year, headquarters, headcount and funding were not read on the vendor pages, so those fields are left empty rather than filled in from memory.
- Prices differ in unit: per month for most tools, per connected company for Fathom, and by accounting plan for Xero and QuickBooks. They are not directly comparable, so price them for your own company. Jirav's page did not say whether its starting prices are annual or monthly, and Cash Flow Frog's page showed only one revenue tier.
- The page we opened at cubesoftware.com/pricing showed Bronze, Silver and Gold plans quoted through a form. We describe only what that page showed.
- Scores are an AI editorial judgement against the published rubric, using only the pages we read. Entries without published prices score lower on Pricing Transparency by design. That is a statement about the page, not the product. Planning platforms whose pages describe no cash flow features score low on forecast depth.
- No vendor has paid for placement. Scores are not a measure of customer satisfaction.
