Verdict

BigTime wins this page because it names more of a managing partner's live numbers than any other product here and then says where they go. Its homepage reads: budget vs actuals tracked in real time, WIP accounting syncs straight to your GL, live margin from first draft to final SOW, billable utilization and average DSO. Work in progress and days sales outstanding are the two numbers a services firm usually waits for month end to see, and BigTime is one of only three vendors on this list that names WIP at all. The integrations page names QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Sage Intacct, Xero, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Salesforce, HubSpot, BambooHR and Jira, so the join to the books is named rather than promised. The one printed price is Essentials at $20 per user a month. By our arithmetic that is $2,400 a year for ten people.

What customers praise

BigTime says roughly 2,000 of its customers run an active QuickBooks integration, about 75 percent of them, which tells a small firm it will not be the odd one out. The integration list is the widest on this page for accounting systems: QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Xero, NetSuite and Dynamics GP. It claims 3,000+ professional services firms, 80K+ daily users and 47 average days from contract to go live, all vendor figures.

What customers criticise

The $20 price buys Essentials, and the pricing page lists Standard Dashboards under Advanced, which prints no price. Project Budgeting and the Sage Intacct connector sit in Premier, also unpriced. So the live dashboard this page ranks it first for costs more than $20, and you have to ask how much. The homepage calls the Expense Agent available now while the pricing page marks it coming soon. The outcome ranges, 8 to 12 points of billable utilization and 15 to 20 percent higher project margins, are vendor claims with no method published.
