Verdict
Briefpoint does one job and says what it costs to do it. It automates written discovery, collects client files and responses, and generates Bates cited production packages, across all 50 states and 98 federal district courts. The price is $150 per attorney per month on annual billing, $1,800 a year, with no per case fees and unlimited document downloads. It names Clio, MyCase and Smokeball on its homepage and produces drafts that open in Word. For a three lawyer litigation shop, that is $5,400 a year by our arithmetic, which is about 3.4 percent of one lawyer's median pay of $159,670, by the same arithmetic. It ranks fifth because it covers discovery and nothing else.
What customers praise
A price you can put in a budget, per attorney, with the two things that usually hide in the small print, per case fees and download limits, ruled out on the page. Three named practice management connections. Coverage stated by jurisdiction rather than implied.
What customers criticise
It is discovery only, so it will not help a transactional or advisory practice at all. The integrations are named on the homepage and not on the pricing page, and briefpoint.ai/integrations returned 404, so we could not read what each connection does. No trial length is stated. The 1,000+ firms and 1.6 million discovery requests figures are vendor claims with no method published.
Best for
A litigation practice on Clio, MyCase or Smokeball that loses days a month to written discovery responses and wants a fixed per attorney price.
