Verdict

The most complete platform here and the one that will cost the most, in that order. Canopy publishes three tiers and then publishes the add-on rates too, which is honest and also a warning. Ten users on Premium is $17,880 a year before a single tax workflow credit. What you get for it is scale evidence nobody else on this page publishes: 15,000 practitioners, 250,000 invoices created a month, six million files, and an average of ten tools replaced per firm. The AI is where it gets awkward. Canopy Coworker is described as coordinating and executing work across tasks, workflows and clients, flagging transaction anomalies and recommending automation rules. On the homepage it is marked coming soon. On the pricing page it sits among the features in the plans. A buyer should ask which page is right before signing an annual contract.

What customers praise

Canopy publishes what most of this market hides: three per user tiers and four add-on rates, down to $1.25 for a knowledge based authentication credit. The scale numbers are specific rather than rounded marketing, 15,000 practitioners and 250,000 invoices a month, and the ten tools replaced figure is the argument for buying it. Close automation at $10 a connected client with the first five free is a fair way to let a firm test it on five clients before committing forty.

What customers criticise

Canopy Coworker is marked coming soon on the homepage and listed among plan features on the pricing page. Those cannot both be true, and a firm signing an annual contract for the AI needs to know which. The price compounds: $149 a user, plus $34 a client for tax workflow, plus $10 a connected client for close, plus $50 a user for tax resolution. Neither the homepage nor the pricing page names a single third party integration, so whether a return or a close reaches QuickBooks Online or a tax package is a question for the demo. Annual billing is what the published prices assume.

Best for

A United States tax practice of fifteen people or more that has ten separate tools and wants one, and can afford to pay per user and per client at the same time.
