Verdict

The cleanest purchase on this page for a small firm, and the only one that names QuickBooks Online and Xero on the pricing page itself rather than on a logo wall somewhere else. Four AI features carry the Magic label: Magic Workflow, Magic Messages, Magic Emails and Magic Client Tasks, with Magic Books Review added on the $79 tier. Client Tasks is the one that earns the money. A bookkeeper who stops writing the same three questions to eleven clients every month has bought back a day. Every tier carries unlimited clients and unlimited storage, and the page states there are never any add-ons or surprise charges, which after reading Canopy's add-on ladder is a claim worth something. Six users on PLUS is $5,688 a year.

What customers praise

Unlimited clients and unlimited storage at $49 a user is the best ratio on this page for a firm with more clients than staff, which describes most bookkeeping practices. Both accounting systems are named where a buyer reads the price, not two clicks away. The no add-ons promise is printed on the pricing page. Magic Books Review on the top tier is the only AI review feature here that arrives without a separate per client meter attached to it.

What customers criticise

Solopreneur is one user and annual billing only, so a two person firm jumps straight to $59 or $79. Magic Books Review, the feature a bookkeeper would buy this for, sits only on the $79 tier. No tax package is named anywhere on the pricing page, so a US tax practice on Drake or UltraTax is looking at the wrong product. And Client Hub is a much smaller company than Karbon or Canopy, with no user count, firm count or funding published on the pages read this run, so a firm betting five years of workflow on it is betting on less evidence.

Best for

A one to fifteen person bookkeeping or client accounting firm on QuickBooks Online or Xero, where the real cost is the client who does not answer and the junior who waits for them.
