Verdict

The entry that wins the first criterion outright, because there is nothing to join. Finance, sales, purchasing, inventory and manufacturing are the same ledger, so a job closed on the floor is a costed entry rather than a file that has to travel. Microsoft prices it in public: $80.00 per user per month paid yearly for Essentials, $110.00 for Premium, $8.00 for Team Members, with Copilot included. Manufacturing is a Premium feature, so a manufacturer is buying the $110.00 seat by definition, not the $80.00 one. The Team Members licence at $8.00 is the quietly important number, because it lets the people who only approve or read stop costing a full seat.

What customers praise

It removes the integration rather than improving it, which is a different and better answer to the question this list is about. The licence prices are published to the cent on Microsoft's own page, including the distinction that manufacturing and service order management are Premium only, so a manufacturer can work out its own seat bill before speaking to anybody. Team Members at $8.00 a month means a shop can put approvers, supervisors and the owner on the system without paying full freight for people who never create a work order.

What customers criticise

The licence is published and the implementation is not, and the implementation is the larger number. Business Central is bought and configured through a partner, and no partner fee appears anywhere on Microsoft's pricing page, so the figure a manufacturer can budget is the smaller half of the real one. Twelve Premium users is $1,320 a month before a single routing is configured, which puts it out of reach of the 74 percent of United States manufacturers that employ fewer than 20 people. And it is the heaviest product here to reverse.

A manufacturer that has decided the shop floor and the general ledger must be one database rather than two systems held together by an integration, and that already lives inside Microsoft 365
