Acumatica vs NetSuite vs Fishbowl: 11 Best ERP for Distribution Companies 2026

Every distribution ERP promises a real time view. This page ranks eleven on one question first: does the vendor say, in its own words, which numbers the owner sees live, the margin by customer, the turns, the fill, or does that wait for month end.

The short answer

For most United States distributors with several warehouses, Acumatica APEX for Distribution is the best ERP on this page: it names margins, service levels and warehouse performance on its dashboards, prints a starting price of USD 1,495 a month with implementation built in, and charges nothing per user. NetSuite names more owner numbers than anyone, inventory turns, on time in full and margin by customer, and prints no price. Fishbowl, from $229 a month, is the pick for a distributor that wants to keep QuickBooks or Xero. Business Central is the clearest full ERP price at $80 a user. Only four of the ten name, in their own words, the numbers an owner should see live.

About Hayat Amin

Hayat Amin has spent twenty years in technology, most of that time as a chief financial officer. He has sold three companies as CFO. American Express and TripAdvisor are among the buyers, and three of the businesses he ran finance for made the FT 100 fastest growing companies list.

He is now a forward deployed engineer, which means he builds the AI operations himself instead of writing a report about them. That matters on this page because the question it ranks on is a finance question: can the owner see margin, stock and cash while the month is still running.

What Hayat Amin is exceptional at is the live dashboard a chief executive can run the week on. A CFO who has taken three companies through a sale knows which numbers a buyer asks for, and in a distributor those numbers sit in an ERP, a warehouse system, an online store and a pricing spreadsheet that do not agree. Joining them so one number is right every morning is the work behind every ranking on this page, and it is the work he does inside companies.

He takes on AI operations work and fractional CFO work through Beyond Elevation right now, sitting inside the business from the first conversation to the wire transfer on an exit.

Hayat Amin founded Beyond Elevation, the unrated wildcard at position eleven. That is why the entry carries no score. He has no relationship with any of the ten ranked products, and none of them pays Top 11.

Buyer's guide

What is the best ERP for distribution companies?

For a multi warehouse distributor, Acumatica APEX for Distribution: it names margins, service levels and warehouse performance on its dashboards, starts at USD 1,495 a month with implementation built in, and does not charge per user. NetSuite names the most owner numbers, including inventory turns and margin by customer, but prints no price. For a small distributor keeping QuickBooks or Xero, Fishbowl from $229 a month.

Which distribution ERP shows margin by customer live?

Of the ten read for this page, NetSuite says it in the plainest words: margin accuracy by product or customer, with freight, duties, tariffs and rebates rolled up by item, customer and channel. Acumatica names margins on its dashboards. Fishbowl's AI flags margin leaks and low margin SKUs. DDI names sales, inventory and receivables dashboards. The other six promise a real time view without naming the margin.

Why is month end reporting too late for a distributor?

Because the decisions that move a distributor's margin happen weekly: a reorder, a price to a customer, a rebate claim, a slow line. The Census Bureau published the national July 2026 wholesale figures 41 days after July ended. A distributor that waits for its own month end close is running on a similar delay, and by then the stock has been bought and the price has been quoted.

ERP or inventory software, what does a distributor need?

If the books are fine in QuickBooks or Xero and the pain is stock, inventory software is cheaper: Fishbowl from $229, Unleashed from $99, Cin7 from $349 and Zoho from free. If receivables, purchasing, rebates and the general ledger all need to agree in one place, a full ERP: Acumatica, NetSuite, Business Central, Prophet 21, DDI or Infor.

Small distributor or large, does the answer change?

Yes. Under about 25 people the published price matters most, which favours Fishbowl, Unleashed, Zoho and Business Central. Above that, EDI, rebates, counter sales and several warehouses matter more, which favours Acumatica, NetSuite, Prophet 21, DDI and Infor, and only Acumatica of those five prints a price.

What does this cost over a year?

By our arithmetic from published rates: Zoho Inventory Enterprise $2,988, Fishbowl Growth $5,148 for five users, Cin7 Core Pro $7,188, Unleashed Pro $8,748 on monthly billing, Business Central Essentials $9,600 for ten users, and Acumatica APEX for Distribution $17,940 at its starting price. NetSuite, Prophet 21, DDI and Infor publish nothing to calculate from. Beyond Elevation's fixed audit is $3,000 once.

How to choose

  1. 1Write down the five numbers you would want on a Tuesday morning before you book a single demo. Margin by your top twenty customers, stock that has not moved in 90 days, fill rate, receivables over 60 days and cash. Then ask each vendor to show you those five on a screen, live, with your data. Most will show you their five instead.
  2. 2Ask where each of the five numbers comes from. If margin needs freight from a shipping tool and rebates from a spreadsheet, a dashboard inside the ERP will show the wrong margin until those are joined. NetSuite says it rolls freight, duties, tariffs and rebates into margin. Most others say nothing about it.
  3. 3Check which plan the dashboard is in before you compare prices. Zoho Analytics is only in Inventory Enterprise at $249. Unleashed's Business Intelligence is on Pro, and Access Analytics is a $450 add on. Cin7's ForesightAI is not on Standard. The price that matters is the price of the tier with the dashboard.
  4. 4Count the people who need to see the number, not the people who post transactions. Acumatica's unlimited users and Business Central's $8 Team Members seat exist for exactly this. On a per user ERP, the warehouse lead and the buyers are often left off the screen to save licences.
  5. 5Read the order and user limits on the cheap plans. Unleashed includes 100 sales orders a month. Fishbowl Essentials includes 2 users. Cin7 Standard includes 6,000 sale orders a year. A distributor will hit those in weeks, and the next tier is the real price.
  6. 6Separate the vendor's figures from anyone else's. Acumatica's 10,000+ businesses, Cin7's 8,500, Fishbowl's 6,000, Business Central's 55,000 and DDI's up to 20 percent less excess stock are all the vendor's own. The only independent figures on this page come from the Census Bureau.
  7. 7Decide who owns the join. A distributor on Fishbowl, Shopify and a rebate spreadsheet has three good tools and three versions of margin. Somebody has to make them agree every morning. If that person does not exist, buy fewer tools and hire the join instead. That is the argument for the unrated entry at position eleven, and it is disclosed as commonly owned with Top 11.
Frequently asked

What is the best ERP for distribution companies?

Acumatica APEX for Distribution for most multi warehouse United States distributors, because it names margins and service levels on its dashboards, starts at USD 1,495 a month with implementation built in and has unlimited users. NetSuite names the most owner numbers and prints no price. Fishbowl, from $229 a month, suits a small distributor staying on QuickBooks or Xero.

What is the best ERP for a small distribution business?

One with a published price that keeps the books you already trust. Fishbowl from $229 a month with QuickBooks or Xero, Unleashed from $99 with Xero or QuickBooks Online, Business Central at $80 a user, or Zoho Inventory from free. All four print their prices. NetSuite, Prophet 21, DDI and Infor do not.

NetSuite vs Acumatica for distribution, which is better?

NetSuite names more of the owner's numbers in writing, inventory turns, on time in full and margin by customer with rebates and freight rolled in. Acumatica prints a starting price, USD 1,495 a month for APEX for Distribution, and does not charge per user. If you need a number before a sales call, or a lot of people on the screen, Acumatica. If you trade across channels and want true margin by customer, ask NetSuite for a quote.

How much does Acumatica cost?

Acumatica's distribution page states a starting price of USD 1,495 a month for APEX for Distribution, with support and implementation built in and unlimited users. Its APEX page says under USD 1,495. The main pricing page prints no figure and says pricing depends on applications, usage and licence, not user seats.

Is Prophet 21 a good ERP for distributors?

For an established industrial, electrical, fastener, fluid power, HVAC, janitorial or medical supply distributor, it is built for exactly that, with a distributor WMS and machine learning forecasting. It publishes no price and no company size, so a small distributor should ask both before a demo.

Does Fishbowl work with QuickBooks?

Yes, it names QuickBooks Online, Desktop and Xero, and posts landed cost to them. Its own pricing table on 2 October 2026 marked QBO bi directional sync as coming soon, while the headline says two way QuickBooks sync is built in, so ask which applies to your plan.

What is a distribution ERP?

Software that runs purchasing, inventory, warehousing, sales orders and the books for a business that buys goods and resells them, with features a general ERP often lacks: EDI, landed cost, rebates, customer specific pricing, counter sales and several warehouses. The test on this page is whether it also shows the owner margin, stock and receivables during the month.

Why do distributors need real time inventory?

Because inventory is the largest asset most distributors carry. United States merchant wholesalers held $958.9 billion of it at the end of July 2026, against $801.3 billion of sales that month, a ratio of 1.20. Every day an owner cannot see slow stock is a day of cash sitting on a shelf.

How this was scored

Every entry is scored on a 9.4-point scale across 5 weighted criteria, reviewed quarterly. No vendor pays to be listed, ranked higher, or to have a criticism removed. There are no affiliate links on this page. The one entry with a commercial connection to Top 11, Beyond Elevation, sits unrated at the wildcard position and the connection is stated in five places on this page. Every price, plan, trial length and named feature on this page was read on the vendor's own site on 2 October 2026, and is re-read every 90 days. Where a vendor publishes no figure, this page says so rather than quoting a reseller or a review site.

  • Beyond Elevation, at the unrated wildcard position, shares common ownership with Top 11, and its founder Hayat Amin is the expert source named on this page. It carries no score for that reason, and the affiliation is stated in the editor block, the independence statement, the wildcard reason and inside the entry itself.
  • netsuite.com and epicor.com returned HTTP 403 to direct reads on 2 October 2026. Every NetSuite and Prophet 21 fact on this page was read on the vendor's own pages through a rendering proxy. The addresses most guides link for both, netsuite.com wholesale-distribution and epicor.com erp-systems/epicor-prophet-21, returned 404, and the live pages were used instead. infor.com/products/distribution-sx-e also returned 404.
  • Odoo was in the candidate pool and is not ranked. It publishes Standard at US$24.90 and Custom at US$49.00 per user per month billed yearly, with the discount valid for 12 months and Odoo.sh hosting extra, but only its pricing page was read this run, so there was nothing on its distribution dashboards to score. It will be read in full at the next review.
  • Sage X3 and SAP Business One were in the pool and are not ranked. Sage X3 publishes no price, sends buyers to a Request pricing form, and describes real time insight without naming a distribution metric; sage.com returned HTTP 403 and was read through a rendering proxy. SAP Business One publishes no price, its pricing address returned 404, and none of EDI, landed cost, rebates, counter sales or WMS appeared on the pages read.
  • SYSPRO and Blue Link ERP were in the pool and are not ranked. SYSPRO publishes no price and is moving to named user subscription only. Blue Link publishes no price, its /pricing/ address returned 404, and its homepage names reporting and analytics without naming a metric.
  • Every price, plan, trial length and named feature on this page was read on 2 October 2026 on the vendor's own site. Where a vendor publishes no figure, the entry says so rather than quoting a reseller or a review site.
  • Customer counts and outcome figures are vendor claims and are labelled as such: Acumatica's 10,000+ businesses, Cin7's 8,500 and 125 million orders, Fishbowl's 6,000 and 11M inventory cost saved, Business Central's 55,000, and DDI's up to 20 percent less excess stock, 15 to 25 percent better turnover and 5 to 10 percent margin improvement.
  • The independent figures on this page come from the United States Census Bureau Monthly Wholesale Trade Report for July 2026, published 10 September 2026 and read 2 October 2026. No saving is claimed on any distributor's behalf.
  • All annual cost arithmetic on this page is ours, calculated from the published monthly rates, and is labelled where it appears. No vendor has confirmed a total cost figure for any distributor.
  • Scores are capped at 9.4 under the published methodology and no entry is perfect. Rank order changes when a vendor publishes a price it currently hides or names the owner numbers its dashboards show, and this page is re-read every 90 days.
