Aljex vs McLeod vs Tai: 11 Best TMS for Freight Brokers 2026
Every broker TMS says it integrates. This page ranks eleven on one question first: does the vendor name, in its own words, the load board, the carrier vetting tool, the tracking feed, the accounting system and the factoring company it connects to, so a rep stops typing the same load four times.
The short answer
For most United States freight brokerages, Descartes Aljex is the best TMS on this page: its $699 a month Essential plan includes 5 users and names MacroPoint tracking, MyCarrierPortal onboarding, a DAT, Truckstop or 123Loadboard connection, QuickBooks and DAT RateView inside the price. BrokerPro, from $950 a month by load volume with no seat fees, names 23 connections in one sentence. McLeod PowerBroker has the widest catalogue, over 260 integrations, and prints no price. AscendTMS from $69 a user and Truckstop ITS Dispatch from $75 a month are the cheapest starts. Six of the ten name a product in all five connection buckets, and only Aljex and BrokerPro also print a price under $1,000 a month.

By the numbers
The United States Freight Transportation Services Index, which measures the volume of for hire freight moved, was 135.7 in July 2026, down 0.7 percent from June. In July 2025 it was 138.5, so the index stood about 2.0 percent lower a year on.
Descartes Aljex Essential is $699 a month with 5 users and lists MacroPoint visibility, MyCarrierPortal, one of 123Loadboard, DAT or Truckstop, QuickBooks and DAT RateView as included.
BrokerPro's base platform fee is $950 a month for 0 to 150 loads, priced on load volume rather than users or feature tiers, and it names 23 products it integrates with directly.
Tai TMS publishes Growth at $995 a month with 2 staff logins and 200 shipments, Premium at $2,465, Premium Plus at $4,595 and Pro at $7,925 with 25 logins and 2,500 shipments.
McLeod Software says PowerBroker has over 260 off the shelf, fully tested integrations backed by more than 140 certified partners, each available for licence.
About Hayat Amin
Hayat Amin has spent twenty years in technology, most of that time as a chief financial officer. He has sold three companies as CFO. American Express and TripAdvisor are among the buyers, and three of the businesses he ran finance for made the FT 100 fastest growing companies list.
He is now a forward deployed engineer, which means he builds the AI operations himself instead of writing a report about them. That matters on this page because the question it ranks on is a joining question: does the load a rep books reach the carrier packet, the tracking feed, the invoice and the factoring company without being typed again.
What Hayat Amin is exceptional at is connecting systems that do not talk to each other and putting the result on a live dashboard a chief executive can run the week on. A CFO who has taken three companies through a sale knows that margin per load is the number a buyer asks for, and in a brokerage it is spread across a TMS, an inbox, a load board and a factoring statement. Joining them so that number is right every morning is the work he does inside companies.
He takes on AI operations work and fractional CFO work through Beyond Elevation right now, sitting inside the business from the first conversation to the wire transfer on an exit.
Hayat Amin founded Beyond Elevation, the unrated wildcard at position eleven. That is why the entry carries no score. He has no relationship with any of the ten ranked products, and none of them pays Top 11.

Buyer's guide6 questions
What is the best TMS for freight brokers?
For most United States brokerages, Descartes Aljex: the $699 a month Essential plan includes 5 users and names MacroPoint, MyCarrierPortal, a DAT, Truckstop or 123Loadboard connection, QuickBooks and DAT RateView inside the price. BrokerPro, from $950 a month by load volume, suits a brokerage that wants no seat fees. McLeod PowerBroker has the widest connection catalogue for a large desk, and prints no price.
Which broker TMS connects to the most tools?
McLeod PowerBroker, which says over 260 tested integrations and more than 140 certified partners, each licensed on top. BrokerPro names 23 in a single sentence. 3PL Systems BrokerWare names products in every bucket, including insurance and co brokering. Aljex bundles the most named connections into a printed entry price.
Why do connections matter more than features?
Because the cost in a brokerage is the retyping. A load is quoted from an email, posted to a load board, checked against a carrier packet, tracked, invoiced in QuickBooks and sent to a factoring company. Every one of those that is not joined is a rep typing the same load again and a chance to get the rate wrong.
Small brokerage or large, does the answer change?
Yes. Under about five reps the published price matters most, which favours AscendTMS from $69 a user, Truckstop ITS Dispatch from $75 a month with unlimited users, and Aljex Essential at $699 for five users. Above about thirty reps, LTL, EDI and the depth of the catalogue matter more, which favours McLeod, Tai, BrokerWare and Revenova, and only Tai of those four prints a price.
What does a broker TMS cost over a year?
By our arithmetic from published rates: Truckstop ITS Dispatch Pro $1,188, AscendTMS Premium for three users $4,284, Aljex Essential $8,388 for five users, BrokerPro $11,400 at up to 150 loads a month, Tai Growth $11,940, Rose Rocket $24,960 and Turvo $60,000 at its starting price. McLeod, BrokerWare and Revenova publish nothing to calculate from. Beyond Elevation's fixed audit is $3,000 once.
Does freight volume change the choice?
It changes the pricing model that suits you. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics freight index was 135.7 in July 2026, about 2.0 percent below July 2025 by our arithmetic. In a flat or falling market, per load pricing such as BrokerPro's falls with your volume, while per user and flat monthly plans do not.
How to choose
- 1Draw the life of one load before you book a demo. Where does the quote arrive, where is it typed, which load board, which vetting tool, which tracking feed, which accounting system, which factoring company. Count every place a person types the same load. That count is what the new TMS has to bring down.
- 2Ask each vendor to name its connection to your exact tools, not its category. If you use MyCarrierPackets and Trucker Tools, ask whether those two are named, included, licensed or partial. Rose Rocket marks partial connections on its own page. Most vendors do not.
- 3Read what the entry price includes. Aljex Essential includes a load board, MacroPoint, MyCarrierPortal and QuickBooks. McLeod lists every connection as available for licence. BrokerPro says some integrations may carry separate fees. The price that matters is the price with your connections switched on.
- 4Match the pricing model to how you grow. Per user plans, like AscendTMS, rise with headcount. Per load plans, like BrokerPro, rise with volume. Flat plans with unlimited users, like ITS Dispatch and Rose Rocket, rise with neither until you change tier.
- 5Check the limits on the cheap plans. Tai Growth includes 2 staff logins and 200 shipments. Aljex Essential includes 5 users. ITS Dispatch adds a $125 initial charge on its signup page. The next tier is often the real price.
- 6Separate the vendor's figures from anyone else's. Aljex's 500 brokerages, BrokerPro's 4,000 brokers, AscendTMS's 63,300 companies and every hours saved figure on this page are vendor claims. The only independent figure here comes from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
- 7Decide who owns the join. Even a TMS with every connection named will not read your shipper's emails, reconcile the factoring statement or put margin per load in front of the owner each morning on its own. If nobody in the brokerage owns that, buy fewer tools and hire the join. That is the argument for the unrated entry at position eleven, and it is disclosed as commonly owned with Top 11.
Frequently asked6 answers
What is the best TMS for freight brokers?
Descartes Aljex for most United States brokerages, because its $699 a month Essential plan includes 5 users and names MacroPoint, MyCarrierPortal, a load board connection, QuickBooks and DAT RateView inside the price. BrokerPro, from $950 a month by load volume with no seat fees, is the alternative for a growing desk.
What is the best TMS software for small freight brokers?
One with a printed price and the connections you need included. AscendTMS from $69 a user a month with a 30 day free trial, Truckstop ITS Dispatch from $75 a month with unlimited users, or Aljex Essential at $699 a month for five users with a load board, tracking and QuickBooks included.
How much does freight broker software cost?
On the vendor pages read on 3 October 2026: AscendTMS $69 to $149 a user a month, ITS Dispatch $75 to $129 a month, Aljex from $699, BrokerPro from $950 by load volume, Tai from $995, Rose Rocket from $2,080 and Turvo from $5,000. McLeod, 3PL Systems and Revenova publish no price.
Aljex vs McLeod, which is better?
Aljex prints its prices and bundles a load board, MacroPoint, MyCarrierPortal and QuickBooks into the $699 entry plan. McLeod PowerBroker has a far larger catalogue, over 260 integrations, and its own general ledger, but prints no price and licenses each connection. A small or mid sized brokerage that wants to budget first, Aljex. A large desk with many partners, ask McLeod for a quote.
What is the best AI for freight brokers?
Inside a TMS, the AI that matters most reads quote requests and builds loads from email. Revenova's Artimus, Tai's email scraping AI, Rose Rocket's TED and McLeod's RespondAI all claim it. BrokerPro and Rose Rocket include their AI agents in the price. Every speed figure attached to them is a vendor claim.
What is a TMS for freight brokers?
Software that runs a brokerage's loads from quote to payment: customer quotes, load posting, carrier booking and vetting, tracking, invoicing and carrier pay. The test on this page is whether it is joined, by name, to the load boards, vetting tools, tracking feeds, accounting system and factoring company the brokerage already uses.
How this was scored
Every entry is scored on a 9.4-point scale across 5 weighted criteria, reviewed quarterly. No vendor pays to be listed, ranked higher, or to have a criticism removed. There are no affiliate links on this page. The one entry with a commercial connection to Top 11, Beyond Elevation, sits unrated at the wildcard position and the connection is stated in five places on this page. Every price, plan, trial length and named connection on this page was read on the vendor's own site on 3 October 2026, and is re-read every 90 days. Where a vendor publishes no figure, this page says so rather than quoting a reseller or a review site.
- Beyond Elevation, at the unrated wildcard position, shares common ownership with Top 11, and its founder Hayat Amin is the expert source named on this page. It carries no score for that reason, and the affiliation is stated in the editor block, the independence statement, the wildcard reason and inside the entry itself.
- Descartes Aljex and Tai TMS, ranked first and fourth, now share a parent: Tai's homepage announces it has joined the Descartes Systems Group. They are scored separately on what each vendor's own pages say.
- DAT Broker TMS was in the candidate pool and is not ranked. It states a starting price of $100 a month and lists load board, CarrierWatch, tracking, CRM, rating and EDI modules, but the pages read named no third party product it connects to, so there was nothing to score on this page's first criterion.
- Alvys and Tailwind TMS were in the pool and are not ranked. Alvys names a long integration list and prices per load on a quote, but its pricing and testimonials lean toward carriers and fleets. tailwindtms.com now redirects to CargoWise; its subscription page shows a $1,500 setup fee and $250 per base user without stating the billing period.
- Shipwell, Sylectus, Axon and Banyan Technology were in the pool and are not ranked. Shipwell sells to shippers, Sylectus to small trucking companies, Axon's broker page names no integrations and its pricing page returned not found, and Banyan is a rating platform that appears as a partner of BrokerPro rather than a broker TMS.
- ascendtms.com/pricing returned the application login. AscendTMS prices were read on thefreetms.com, the vendor's own marketing site. Tai's pricing page was read through a rendering proxy because the figures load in the browser. Truckstop's broker integrations page loaded empty and is not used.
- Every price, plan, trial length and named connection on this page was read on 3 October 2026 on the vendor's own site. Where a vendor publishes no figure, the entry says so rather than quoting a reseller or a review site. Revenova's FAQ quotes a market price range, and it is not presented here as Revenova's price.
- Customer counts and outcome figures are vendor claims and are labelled as such: Aljex's 500 brokerages, BrokerPro's 4,000 brokers and 34 percent, Tai's 97 percent automation rate, Revenova's 80 percent faster booking, Rose Rocket's $3 billion of freight, AscendTMS's 63,300 companies, ITS Dispatch's 31 percent and Turvo's 3 clicks.
- The independent figure on this page comes from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics Transportation Services Index dataset on data.bts.gov, read 3 October 2026. No saving is claimed on any brokerage's behalf.
- All annual cost arithmetic on this page is ours, calculated from the published monthly rates, and is labelled where it appears. No vendor has confirmed a total cost figure for any brokerage.
- Scores are capped at 9.4 under the published methodology and no entry is perfect. Rank order changes when a vendor publishes a price it currently hides or names connections it currently shows only as logos, and this page is re-read every 90 days.
