Pepper review

Names Omnitracs, Samsara and Geotab, and reads orders by voice, text, image and handwriting.

Verdict

Pepper is the only product here that names the route tracking side of the join: its modules page says order tracking integrates with every major route tracking provider, including Omnitracs, Samsara and Geotab. Order Agent takes orders by voice, text, image and handwriting, and the Finance Hub covers payments and collections. On the ERP side it names a count instead of a list, and the count changes between pages: 70+ ERP systems on the homepage, 200+ pre built modules for 50+ ERPs on the modules page. It ranks below Choco because a buyer cannot check from the site whether its own ERP is one of them.

What customers praise

Built for the independent distributor rather than the broadliner, and it says so. The route tracking connections are the one named join no other ordering tool here offers, and that is where the where is my truck call comes from. Pepper says over 500 independent distributors and 100,000 operators use it, and that it is SOC 2 compliant.

What customers criticise

No price on the site. No ERP is named on the pages read, and the ERP count is 70+ on one page and 50+ on another. Like Choco it is a layer on top of the ERP, so catch weights and lots live elsewhere. The 500 distributors and 100,000 operators are vendor claims.

Best for

An independent United States foodservice distributor that wants AI order entry, a customer storefront and collections joined to its ERP and to the route tracking it already pays for.
