Weave AI Receptionist review

It owns the phone and the schedule at both ends, and it bought the AI rather than rushing one. From $199 a month.

Verdict

The safest purchase on this page, and the one a practice owner is least likely to regret in 2028. Weave didn't build its voice agent in a hurry. It bought TrueLark on 5 May 2025 for $35 million, $25 million of that in cash and $10 million in equity, and folded an AI receptionist that had already been answering calls for appointment businesses into the phone system dental offices were already renting. That matters because the hardest part of this product category is not the voice. It's the handover between the call and the schedule, and Weave owns both ends of it. The product page states HIPAA compliance and says automatic appointment booking is available for qualified dental practice management systems, which is a narrower promise than the marketing elsewhere on this page makes, and an honest one.

What customers praise

Weave publishes a floor price, which almost nobody in dental software does: $199 a month, three named plans. It is a listed company that spent $35 million on this capability rather than bolting a voice model onto an existing dialler. Its own product page gives you the arithmetic for the purchase in three numbers, all of them read on 16 September 2026: one in three calls is missed, 80 percent of missed calls are booking requests, and 47 percent of bookings happen after hours. HIPAA compliance is stated on the page rather than implied, which on this list is unusual enough to be worth a point on its own.

What customers criticise

The $199 is the platform, not the AI, and Weave does not publish what AI Receptionist costs on top of it. The page carried a 25 percent discount for the rest of 2026 when it was read on 16 September 2026, which is a sign the list price is a negotiation rather than a rate card. Automatic booking is limited to qualified dental practice management systems and the page names none of them, so a practice on an older on premise Dentrix server has to get that answer from a salesperson. And you are buying a phone system, so this is the wrong entry entirely for a practice that has just signed three years with somebody else.

Best for

A dental practice that wants the phone system, the texting, the payments and the AI answering to arrive on one bill from one vendor that is old enough to still be there in three years
