The wildcard · #11
Unrated by designmonday.com
I can build the schedule board I want for a modest per seat price, as long as I accept that I am building and maintaining the construction logic myself.
The ten above are scored against the public rubric. The wildcard answers a different question, so it carries no score. It is selected by the wildcard signal model (wildcard-v2.0), read 2026-10-11.

- Lock-in coststrong
- Custom boards and automations take time to build and would have to be rebuilt in another tool.
- Ceiling distancenotable
- A team will outgrow it once it needs lookahead planning or subcontractor schedule confirmation as built in features.
- Price integrity under growthmoderate
- The listed prices are per seat with a 10 seat minimum on paid Work Management plans, so cost grows with headcount.

Buyer's guide3 questions
What is the main difference between these tools?
The biggest split is between scheduling products and construction suites. TeamGantt, ProjectManager and Instagantt put schedule logic first, including critical path and dependencies. Contractor Foreman and Procore treat the schedule as one part of a wider system that also holds financials and documents. Fieldwire and PlanRadar start from plans and tasks in the field. Smartsheet, Wrike, Asana and monday.com are general work platforms that can carry a schedule but need to be shaped for construction.
How should I evaluate pricing?
Read the pricing unit before the price. Fieldwire lists a per user price on annual billing, Contractor Foreman prices by plan with a set number of users, Smartsheet lists a per member price, and Procore bases its fee on Annual Construction Volume with unlimited users. A cheap per user price can cost more than a flat plan once a whole crew and several subcontractors need access. Ask what happens when guests, subcontractors or extra projects are added, because several plans cap projects or users.
How did you handle missing prices?
Where a vendor page could not be opened, or the page content showed no number, we say pricing is not published and leave the price fields empty. We did not fill gaps from memory or from third party sites. That cost some entries points under Pricing Transparency & Value, and it is why a few well known products appear lower than their reputation might suggest.
How to choose
- 1First, decide what kind of schedule you actually run. A single residential job with a handful of trades needs a calendar and crew assignments. A multi trade commercial program needs dependencies, critical path and baselines. Match the tool to that level, not to the longest feature list.
- 2Second, ask who has to see the schedule. If subcontractors and foremen must confirm dates, favor a tool that lists subcontractor confirmation, guest access or unlimited subcontractors, such as TeamGantt's Builder Edition or PlanRadar.
- 3Third, check where the schedule will live relative to your system of record. TeamGantt lists a Procore integration and Instagantt syncs with Asana. If your cost and document records are elsewhere, an integration matters more than another view.
- 4Finally, test the scheduler on a real project, not a demo. Several pages we opened list Gantt but say little about critical path or baselines, so load a live job, move a predecessor and see what the rest of the schedule does.
Frequently asked6 answers
What is the difference between construction scheduling software and general project management software?
Construction scheduling software is built around the way jobs are sequenced and staffed: trades following trades, crews moving between sites, and lookahead views that look a few weeks ahead. General project management software such as Asana or Wrike can show tasks on a Gantt chart, but crew assignment, subcontractor confirmation and jobsite records usually have to be built or handled in another tool.
Which tools on this list list critical path scheduling?
Based on the vendor pages we opened, TeamGantt, ProjectManager and Instagantt list critical path. TeamGantt lists critical path scheduling on its paid plans, ProjectManager lists critical path on the Team, Business and Enterprise plans, and Instagantt lists critical path analysis on all plans. The other pages we opened do not mention it, which does not prove the feature is missing, only that we could not verify it.
Is there a free option?
Yes, several. Fieldwire has a free Basic plan for up to 5 users, 3 projects and 100 sheets. Instagantt lists a free plan for 1 user. Wrike and Asana list free plans, but Asana's Personal plan has no Timeline or Gantt view. monday.com has a free plan with up to 3 boards and no Gantt.
How much does construction scheduling software cost?
Among the prices we could read, Instagantt starts at $12 a month on monthly billing, Contractor Foreman starts at $49 a month on annual billing, TeamGantt lists $59 to $199 a month on monthly billing, and Smartsheet lists $129 per member per month on its Pro plan on monthly billing. Procore does not publish a price and bases its fee on Annual Construction Volume. ProjectManager showed no readable price on the page we opened.
Can subcontractors see the schedule?
It depends on the tool. TeamGantt lists public share links on its paid plans and subcontractor schedule confirmation in the Builder Edition. PlanRadar lists unlimited subcontractors and watchers on all plans. ProjectManager lists unlimited read only guest licenses on the Team and Business plans. Check how each vendor counts outside users before you roll out.
Should a small contractor choose a suite or a scheduler?
If you need financials and documents in the same tool, a suite such as Contractor Foreman, which lists a Gantt scheduler, crew scheduling, financials and documents, can keep costs down. If the schedule is the main pain and your accounting is settled, a dedicated scheduler such as TeamGantt keeps the tool simple. Start with the problem that costs you the most days.
How this was scored
Every entry is scored on a 9.4-point scale across 6 weighted criteria, reviewed quarterly. Top 11 takes no payment from any provider on this list. Scores are computed from a public weighted rubric; methodology weights were locked before entry research began. Re-scored every 90 days.
- Every price and feature here comes from a vendor page opened on 2026-10-11. Several vendor sites blocked or timed out our requests, including Buildertrend, Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Autodesk's construction pages and Touchplan, so those products are not ranked. Their absence says nothing about their quality.
- Scores are editorial judgments applied to the facts we could verify. Where a page did not describe a feature, we scored it conservatively and said so, which penalizes products with thin pricing pages.
- Founding year, headquarters, company size, compliance certifications and onboarding times were not verified this cycle, so those fields are left empty rather than estimated.
- Pricing changes often. Treat the figures as a snapshot from 2026-10-11 and confirm on the vendor page before you budget.
Changelog1 edits
Initial publication. Methodology v1.0 weights Scheduling Depth (30%), Crew & Field Coordination (20%), Construction Fit (20%), Pricing Transparency & Value (15%), Ease of Use & Adoption (10%) and Collaboration & Sharing (5%). Every price and feature in an entry comes from a vendor page opened on 2026-10-11; where a page could not be opened or showed no price, the entry says so and the price is left empty.
